Esser for Justice
Campaign Manager, Political Director
In December 2019, I joined the campaign to assist with building and growing the campaign's infrastructure, as well as serving as the political advisor to Jacquie Esser, a first-time candidate.
With a core team of volunteers leading efforts on canvassing, sign-waving, and event planning, my role in the campaign has been largely advisory, helping Jacquie navigate and hone her strategy and messaging. I also helped rebuild the campaign website from the ground-up: http://EsserforJustice.com. I have also assisted Jacquie with debate preparation and speaking to media, including getting her comfortable with Facebook Livestreams.
The race for Honolulu Prosecutor is an interesting one, in that it rarely receives much attention from the press or even voters.
The 2020 election for Honolulu Prosecutor has seen dramatic shifts from prior elections. A scandal in the Prosecutor's Office over the last couple of years has spurred a 7-way race, an unheard-of scenario for this race. Add to that the COVID-19 pandemic, which has upended traditional campaign methods.

Political & Strategic Consulting
Working with the Chair of HPMA's Legislative Committee and a few other HPMA members, I am assisting them with legislative messaging and strategy to oppose a handful of bills being considered by the Hawaii State Legislature.
This includes helping to identify likely supporters and opponents of HPMA's position, arranging meetings with legislators. While doing minimal lobbying myself, I am assisting hone talking points, highlighting important legislative procedures and deadlines and working to organize the group's members to testify and lobby in support of HPMA's position.

Joining the team in March of 2018, I took over management of the campaign to oversee all aspects. This included day-to-day operations and management of three other campaign staff. Coming in late, I quickly worked to develop a campaign plan and budget.
The campaign plan included campaign messaging, voter ID, and district targeting.
Working collaboratively with the rest of the team, including the candidate, I was responsible for making sure the campaign was getting its message out through direct voter contact and a media component that included television, digital, print, and social media outlets.
I assisted the candidate in speech-writing and debate preparation.
